I took in the warm golden sunshine and reveled in the repeated “clack-clack” of the aluminum crutches. I was slower than the other pedestrians. I would need to remember one is never in a hurry when on crutches. I would need to pace myself. Crutching was more work than I anticipated, so I took a rest stop on one of the myriad of benches along the main thoroughfare. While walking around for my first two months I was looking more for how to get where I was going; I never stopped to simply take in the sights. The enormous buildings, all made from brick and stone must have cost a fortune during construction!
